Fairfax Naturals seeking qualified coaches!

Naturals Travel Baseball is seeking qualified high school (15u, 16u & 18u) and middle school travel baseball coaches (13u & 14u) for the 2016-2017 season. These are part-time positions at each age group, which will conclude upon the completion of the 2017 summer season.  The positions will begin with tryouts in late June to early July of 2016 with weekly practices beginning in August 2016 and fall baseball games beginning in late August to early September of 2016 in advance of preparing for winter workouts starting in late November or December 2016 and will continue into the spring and summer season, wrapping up in mid to late July 2017.

Our program has consisted of non-parent head coaches for the 2015-2016 season. We will consider parent head coaches during the interview process, with board discretion on final placement of coaches. Our program tirelessly strives to prepare our players to compete at the next level in baseball, as well as in life.

Our middle school teams will focus on player development and building the bridge to the next year, while playing in very competitive tournaments.  Our goals for our high school teams (15u – 18u) will be to participate in a number of local competitive games/tournaments and may culminate in some top national collegiate showcase tournaments (as determined by the coaches of the teams with board direction), which
will provide access to numerous college coaches and pro scouts.

Responsibilities include on-field coaching, pregame preparation, practice organization, mentoring players, and day to day communication with players, parents, college coaches and scouts (at the high school level).

We are seeking candidates that have previous coaching or playing experience at the high school, college, or professional level. The candidate must have strong communication skills and knowledge in the game of baseball.

At the high school level, the candidate must be able to communicate to college coaches and scouts regarding the skill set and abilities of players. Further, the candidate must have schedule flexibility throughout the summer, as we play a very competitive national schedule.

College recruiting tips – Advice from a coach

Interested in playing a college sport? Here are some tips from a successful college coach:

1. Study hard. There are a lot of colleges that you can go to. However, if you don’t study hard, you limit your choices.

2. No matter your skill level, you get what you give on the field. College coaches look for effort. If you don’t give your full effort on the field, it shows, and it is one of the fastest ways to get crossed off of their list.

3. Think about the reputation you are creating for yourself online. College coaches will look you up on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other social media. If they don’t like what they see, they won’t recruit you. Coaches care as much about character as they do skill.

4. Learn how to handle failure as well as success. In many sports, you fail more than you succeed. How you handle that failure says a lot about you.

5. Identify colleges that you are interested in and attend the camps or visit the campus.

6. Have fun.

Nicely played Naturals! Labor Day Tourney details

We had a good outing last night in our first scrimmage as a team against the Falls Church Biscuits.  Looking forward to taking that confidence into this week’s tournament.

This tournament schedule for this weekend can be found at this link 11U Labor Day VSC Tournament Schedule

They were very nice to us, giving us 1 and 3 PM game times, so we should be able to get down there in plenty of time to warm up, and get home in plenty of time to get the boys some rest before going again on Sunday.  Our Sunday game times are all up to us in how we perform on Saturday.

Go Naturals!
